Varna will gather NATO members at the end of May 2011

NATO member states will gather in Bulgaria’s Black Sea of Varna at the end of May. The whole NATO commandment will have a sitting of the Parliamentary Assembly which will prepare the NATO Summit in Romania in October.

The Parliamentary Assembly will take place between May 27-30 in the city of Varna. NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the chairman of the parliamentary Assembly Karl Lamers and Admiral Samuel Locklear – Commander, Joint Force Command, Naples will attend the forum, the Standart learnt. They will visit the forum on its last day together with Bulgaria’s PM Borissov.

According to the preliminary program, the topics of the forum will be the fight against cyber terrorism, the rule in Afghanistan, the nuclear disarmament of Europe, the economic crisis and security, the financial crisis and its impact on Central and Eastern Europe, the security in Africa and the Arab Gulf. The forum envisages a sitting with a Russian governmental delegation and it is expected that the establishment of an anti-missile shield in Eastern Europe be discussed bearing in mind Russia’s discontent with the perspective.
